FAQ

Card stuck in the machine?

Call the IT Hotline or visit the Service Point.
If you can’t reach anyone from IT or it is already after 6 PM or on a weekend, your card will be available for pickup at the Service Point on the next working day.

What to do in case of loss or theft?

The loss or theft of the CampusCard must be reported immediately to the BBZI, and the card must be blocked at the university library.
If you have a balance on the card, have the card additionally blocked at a cashier in a cafeteria of the studierendenWERK. The prerequisite is that you have noted the studierendenWERK number printed on the back of your HWR Berlin CampusCard. If this number is not known, please inquire with the BBZI.

How do I use the card in the cafeteria?

The CampusCard also serves as a student union cafeteria card, which can be loaded with a balance.

The card cannot be updated or is defective?

It may occur that the card becomes unreadable by the machines or is physically worn over time, for example, if the layers peel off. In this case, the card will not be recognized by the validator or may get stuck in the machine. Please report a defective card to the BBZI.

How do I use the CampusCard as a library card?

The CampusCard serves as a library card. On the front, you will find your library number, which is also stored on the card’s RFID chip.

How can I transfer my cafeteria balance to a new CampusCard?

In the case of a replacement card issuance, you will receive not only a new QR code via email but also the student union ID of the old card. You will need this ID to transfer any balance to the new card, if applicable.
